Children's Act Amendment Bill (2007)

To amend the Children’s Act, 2006, so as to insert certain definitions; to create certain new offences relating to children; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

On November 22nd 2007 the Children’s Act Amendment Bill and the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Bill were passed in Parliament. However, these Bills both require regulations that have not yet been finalized.

Service Charter For Victims of Crime

Consolidates the present legal framework, relating to the rights and services provided to victims of crime,
in accordance with mimimum standards and section 234 of the Constitution.

The Charter aims to be a useful instument in the emlimination of secondary victimisation and the promotion of victim empowerment through support for the emotional and material needs of victims.
